OK, I’m not going to talk about my laziness which might take a whole trilogy to document.. lets instead talk about where I found my heaven. Sitting back and browsing through Amazon’s lists of new books and bestsllers is nice. Having someone read the book description for you is even nicer.. combining all that with high res covers and innovative, sleek and easy to navigate design is the kind of website I’d like to live in.

Twitter was amazing and all (seriously I need more adjectives, any suggestions?) but you know what’s more amazing than Twitter? it’s PLURK!! Plurk is (insert adjective here)! If Twitter takes the idea of microblogging to the extent, Plurk gets you into social networking like you’ve never seen before! for me the high customizability does it.. Sometimes I sign up in such sites just to see how much I can tweak the theme and layout. Plurk though was a little challenge.. it required CSS. Let’s say I’ve never seen a CSS code since a web design course two years ago :S . So, in making my Plurk profile theme, I copied Vintage Skyline by ngln, downloaded it’s background, photoshopped it a bit (ok, a lot), uploaded it, and changed the background’s URL in the CSS code.. tolerably easy.

While hunting for a template that works for me, I found some really nice ones:

The idea of a castle that moves through the meadows and is operated by a fire demon that has a pact with the tenant wizard is just enchanting. Add to this that the castle has a door that links to many portals in many cities and it becomes mind blowing. How’ls Moving Castle by Diana Wayne Jones is ultimately my favorite fantasy.

So it’s not a wonder that when I find in the library some story by the same author of Howl’s Moving Castle, I just pick it up with not so much as reading the description. Besides, the cover’s colors practically says “pick me” . But the fact that I come home and discover that the book: House of Many Ways is a sequel to Hauru (nickname for Howl’s Moving Castle) makes my life!

Huh! that’s weird.. Twitter allows only 140 characters per message and I suddenly have so much to say!

When I joined twitter it was my first priority to get myself a descent customized background. I made my current background using other scrapbooking tools. It was really easy.. copy & paste easy.

In making the background I merged this beautiful pattern from Twitter Patterns and a lovely paper background from Sugarplum Paperie. The flower is an element in a beautiful free collection made buy Nicole from Sugarplum Paperie. The ‘Bookfly’ alphabet is from ShabbyPrincess’ The Promise Collection.

Apparently, most authors and novel writers have weblogs. They unusually have so much interesting stuff to write about. I mean, that’s what they do: they write! And there’s no more joy, to me, than to read a post in a writer’s blog. But the thing that cannot pass unnoticed is that authors need serious web design education. I mean it is such a loss not to combine the great content they provide with a sleek and trendy home page.

Stephenie Meyer’s website is constantly updated with exciting news about the twilight movie and upcoming Meyer novels. Meyer’s brother Seth proved to be a perfect website manager, I wish I could say this about his web design skills. Compared with princess Meg Cabot’s loveley diary, the Twilight saga author’s official website urgently need a face lift..

errr... not so much.

I just love the Study books.. but Maria V. Snyder’s website hurts my eyes! come on! the web no longer have all-black pages with yellow links and freakish gif pictures! just take a look at where are web designers headed: Stylishly mind-blowing web desinges. It is unacceptable that such an accoplished writer has such unnoticed website.

It’s whole 3 years until we have the pleasure of watching The Hobbit. Meantime, I won’t mind living in one of these Hobbit inspired earth houses.

Personally, it’s Gandalf I’m really impatient to see. He’s my favorite Middle Earth character. I just can’t resist the white beard.

If reading had a drawback it would be the post-reading depression. Fan fiction doesn’t even come close to solving the problem or easing the pain of not having more..

A smart writer will keep her fans hooked and her income flowing by the ways and methods of a writer. A fellow marketer would say: ” Post-reading depression cannot be ignored. Fans of certain wretten work would develop the need to read more of and about the story. This is a precious market oppurtonity that must be exploited.” Example of a method: a legendary book is a key element in the story of the last installment of a world wide beloved series.
